Second Chance for Non-Violent, Ex-Federal-Offenders
My name is Jaime Woodard ( jaimelwoodard@gmail.com / 201-966-1251) I am the founder of a website called We Deserve Our Lives Back.com and the co-host of a podcast called Fantastic Felons that you can listen to on the site. We Deserve Our Lives Back.com supports the bill HR 1529 which is the Second Chance Act of 2009 not the second chance act of 2007 that George Bush passed. The Second Chance Act of 2009 is Sponsored by Congressman Charles Rangel. If HR1529 becomes law it would allow first-time, non-violent, ex-federal-offenders to petition the court to get thier record expunged ( if the person fits the qualification). Anyone who has a non-violent federal felony can not have their record expunged. On a state level many ex-felons can have their record expunged. HR1529 has died in committee since the year 2000 and soon may die in committee in the current session. I need we deserve our lives back.com to reach everyone who is free and incarcerated non-violent, federal felons. HR1529 will not cost tax-payers anything it would also reduce crime, recidivism, unemployment and careers in this recession. Can a felon own a business and profit form the Go Green Industry that President Obama pushes? We Deserve Careers, its great to work in the fast food industry but better to own the franchise. We all can work for a leading superstore but self-sufficiency would increase as a C.E.O. We Deserve Our Lives Back.
